Nirati\'s Blog

About

Nirati is a freelance journalist. She is interested by people, places, poetry, photography, phood and philm. Her commentary and writing span across these topics; however, she is most fascinated by human interest aspects of political and socio-economic policies.

She has completed a semester at New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Institute of Journalism as a Master’s student in Magazine Journalism. She has previously worked for The Times of India, Hyderabad Times. She completed her undergraduate studies from Brigham Young University in English and Editing.

After taking a sabbatical from blogging, when she was working as the managing editor of an art, culture magazine in Hyderabad, she’s back to Pencil Strikes–partly because she has things to share, recipes to post and reviews to write and partly because she has a bone to pick with reviewers of Dabanng, who awarded this monstrosity 4 stars!

As of October 2010, her play titled ‘Behind the Brassiere’ (written to create breast cancer awareness) has been performed in Hyderabad and Mumbai and is slated to be performed in Vizag, Bangalore and Chennai.
